RE: SCM Software

I think you are right. It is a matter of research. The successful companies (ITWO and maybe MANU) may brag of their successes in their annual reports or SEC filings) and occasionally a customer will mention their supplier -- but I have the impression that brand names are seldom mentioned by customers. May well be worth looking for.

<OT> SCM software. There are really only 2 companies, Itwo and Manu in the space. Both are very depressed due to a mini-depression in the enterprise software sector and the encroachment of the ERPs on the SCM space. As Ive said before Itwo is the better company (Dell has Itwo sw) but Manu is the leader in consumer package goods (McDonalds Longs etc) and thats where these SCM economies really show up.

We can deliver about a 1-2% cost of sales reduction with an SCM implementation. Of course this assumes success. Nestle, Frito Lay are recent SCM implementations. Fwiw, I have never made money trying to predict the outcome in an SCM implemtation except for Dell. I just dont understand cyclical stocks and the underlying foods business etc. If I had a better knowledge of the more traditional industries I might have cleaned up!
