KJ, No problem. I've been busy as well. I agree with you that Intel may well be talking about "fabric" in the generic sense, not specifically in reference to Fibre Channel. I wonder if any of Ancor's fabric expertise could translate into this area. I also read today in Electronic Engineering Times that the 1394 standards effort is being delayed, which might open the door a bit for Fibre Channel in that space. Just to let you know where I'm headed with this, in the future I envision a server motherboard with a small, 4-port Fibre Channel switch right on it, linked directly to the processor bus. (Probably through I2O.) The FC drives could be attached to Fibre Channel connectors that exit out the back for external units, and to an internal connector or connectors for the drives mounted inside the case. Granted, this scenario doesn't play to a true SAN implementation, but it would sure be scalable. <g> Craig
