Thanks for the post, Sam. I consider it of "considerable" interest to the area.

The purchases expand Canadian 88's total holdings in the immediate area to over 45,000 acres.

45,000 acres = 70 sections of land = BIG INTEREST in the area !!

...the Company will now be proceeding immediately with a multi-well program in the area targetting deep Swan Hills and Devonian natural gas accumulations in the 100 to 500 Bcf category

EEE is obviously convinced of the potential for more major Swan Hills and Devonian reservoirs in the area. Should any of the sisters need to farm out additional lands, I'm sure EEE will take the phone call. (Apache will not be the only game in town for the sisters !!)

Later,

Fri 2 Oct 98 News Release
Mr. Greg Noval reports
Canadian 88 Energy has expanded its acreage position in the Strachan/Ram
River area of the foothills of West Central Alberta through the addition of
13,120 acres of petroleum natural gas leases successfully acquired at the
Sept. 30, 1998 Alberta Government petroleum and natural gas lease sale. The
company was the leading purchaser at the sale paying a record price of
$1,750,000 for 20.5 sections in the Strachan/Ram River area. The purchases
expand Canadian 88's total holdings in the immediate area to over 45,000
acres. The Strachan/Ram River area is one of the most prolific areas for
natural gas production and exploration in the foothills of Alberta and with
these purchases Canadian 88 assumes a dominant position in the area",
Canadian 88 President Greg Noval said in Calgary today, indicating that the
Company will now be proceeding immediately with a multiwell program in the
area targeting deep Swan Hills and Devonian natural gas accumulations in
the 100 to 500 bcf category.
In addition, the company was successful in acquiring a further 7,680 acres
of petroleum and natural gas leases at the Sept. 30, 1998 government land
sale in the Wildcat Hills area of West Central Alberta, bringing its total
holdings in this area to 16,000 acres. The company has just finished
shooting approximately 100 square miles of high resolution 3-D seismic in
the area with excellent results and is preparing to spud a Mississippian
test on its holdings in the area prior to the end of October, targeting an
accumulation estimated to range from 100 to 500 bcf. Canadian 88 paid
$1.58-million in total bonuses for 8,320 acres in the Wildcat Hills area at
the March 5, 1998 Alberta Government land sale with offsetting lands
purchased by Petro-Canada and Shell Canada totalling $1.26-million for
5,760 acres.
