PALO ALTO, Calif., -- Bell Atlantic Corp. (BEL) is expected to begin
rolling out its ADSL, or asymmetric digital subscriber line, service on
Monday, company sources said.

In a press conference planned for Washington, D.C., the company is to
announce its kickoff of service in Washington, D.C., and Pittsburgh.
Already fellow RBOCs, such as U.S. West Inc. (USW) and SBC
Communications Inc.'s (SBC) Pacific Bell, offer this high-speed data
link to consumers in their areas of business.

As part of its announcement, Bell Atlantic is to unveil an ADSL
marketing push that will include partners such as Compaq Computer Corp.
(CPQ), Dell Computer Corp. (DELL), Alcatel SA (ALA) and Westell
Technologies Inc. (WSTL), market sources said.

Also participating is Internet content provider CNET Inc. (CNWK).
