JP- While we all (somewhat) enjoy your occasional musings on (general) world economic and market conditions, let me remind you that this is an investment thread concerning Dell..........not Gilette, not Coca-Cola, and not fisherman in Northwest. It is precisely the reason that you lump Dell in (with these investment opportunities) with little regard to the fundamental relationships that drive their individual (long-term) stock price movements that many of us will continue to take you less-than-seriously, and you will continue to miss out on a great (long) investment opportunity. Draw us a logical argument (and please show us a statistical relationship) between the stock prices of Coke, Gilette, and Dell...What is the correlation?

BTW- Larry Summers is right: capital markets are not operating efficiently right now...there IS (currently) an overreaction to Asia.....(Some) Latin American (and Asian) markets have been/are being punished unfairly...All emerging markets are being
hurt by the problems of a (few) emerging markets...But this overreaction will correct itself.....

But you know what? That's emerging markets.....and they will (at some point) bounce back.....it may take a little while...Dell is not an emerging market.....It is clear to (most) investors what the story is with Dell.....and as long as Dell performs, Dell's stock price will appreciate accordingly.....These (temporary) down days have a way of evaporating rapidly with (real) news.....I wouldn't be surprised if Intel's earnings announcement next week bounces Dell up again nicely.....

Market risk is only going to suppress Dell's stock price so far, Jim....Demand is/will continue strong for Dell's products. These are the facts....Learn a new lullaby to sing to your daughter (otherwise, you are going to have to one day explain why the "other one" didn't make sense)....

(I see now we are back up......evaporation takes place quickly again)
