<<<<<<<Government business represents about 12 percent of overall revenue, said Brett Michaels,
Xylan's director of federal sales. In 1995, the first year the government division started selling
products, revenue was $3 million. Company officials project government revenue to hit $40
million in 1998.

Despite Xylan's fast growth, including record earnings of $9.6 million for
the quarter that ended June 30, the company's stock has fallen sharply in
the recent market sell-off. Shares hit a 52-week low of $13.12 Sept. 17,
down from a high of $31.30.

But Marc Woodward, research analyst at Van Kasper & Co., a San
Francisco investment bank, said Xylan's fundamentals are strong. He has
a 12-month price target of $40 on the stock.>>>>>>>>
