Spain's Airtel Raises its Goal to 2 Million Customers for 1998

Madrid, Oct. 2 (Bloomberg) -- Airtel SA, Spain's second-
cellular phone company, has already achieved its 1998 goal for
customers and has raised its target for the year to 2 million,
or 30 percent of the Spanish telephone market, Airtel Chairman
Juan Abello said at a conference.

At the end of September Airtel had 1.725 million customer,
its original goal for all of 1998 as the mobile phone company
completed its third full year in business.

The company expects 1998 sales to reach 200 billion pesetas
($1.4 billion) and has been profitable at the operating level
since March. Airtel expects operation cash flow to reach 45
billion pesetas this year.

Roy and thread,

Re. Large block crossed by Lehman

In Ralph Acampora's column today, he gave out a list of brokerage houses having significant exposure to the LTMC hedge fund. And it was no surprise that I found Lehman Brothers' name among them.

At least this information conforms with my theory that Lehman sold blocks of ATI to save their neck.
__________

From RA's daily column at Prudential website:

Merrill Lynch (MER 44, *)
Lehman Brothers (LEH 28, *)
Donaldson Lufkin Jennerette (DLJ 24 7/8, *)
Travellers (TRV 35 3/4, *)
Lincoln Nat'l (LNC 79 5/16, *)

The above are reported to have significant exposure to the near-failed hedge fund.
