Paul, Henry;*OT*

In a recent post I had occasion to mention Barbara Tuchmann's book "The March Of Folly". I suspect the Y2K scramble would likely rank at the top of her list of written examples if she ever decided to update the book. Then again, maybe she couldn't update her book. Her computer may not recognize the true date. How long have we known there is going to be a year 2000 ?

Best,
Stitch

Paul,
If you're correct, then the best Y2K play would be to short the market, and perhaps be long bonds. Of course, you might have to wait for awhile to get paid<g>

<ot> G'day all - dear Paul, I agree that it may be a bit unfocus to turn this into a Y2K thread [not that I am willing to put up a fight if the participants here choose to do so <G>,] unless maybe if one's surname starts with a 'Y' like Yardeni or Yourdon <VBG>.

[ed note: Yardeni is the chief economist of DMG and Yourdon wrote a lot about structured methodologies - tiny bubbles, if you will - who has become so concerned with the doomsday that he has moved to New Mexico [with his own diesel generator, now this is what I call commitment to one's beliefs!]

best, Bosco
