Great news! Guess can say should have known better - just look at Shit and NSM/Cyrix. With everything under their controls, it still that tough. Trying to mesh different pieces together AND hope for small die size, low power, high speed etc. etc. is just about impossible.

I think the 'sucessful' IP companies will be those that get merged into the likes of LSI. StrongArm may be an exception but even then it is vernerable to other RISC cores that can/already doing WinCE.

It's just not worth the time and effort to string different cores together. Time to market will kill you - design time gets to be greater than product life. Just look at the PC model or TV model, tons of 'manufacturers' but not too many manufacture themselves.

Unfortunately, this is so new that for LSI to go up, it has to show profits first. None of the analysts can understand this, nor probably wish to stick their necks out predicting it.
