10/06/98 - Renault Fuel-Cell Car Shown at EVS-15
Brussels, Belgium - A Renault automobile powered by a fuel cell has been unveiled by the European Union at the 15th International Electric Vehicle Symposium and Exhibition (EVS-15) in Brussels, Belgium, reports Bernama-Xinhua. The zero-emission prototype vehicle reportedly has a range of 250-300 miles (400-500 kilometers) and a maximum speed of 75 miles per hour (120 kmh). The demonstration vehicle uses a 2.2-kilogram polymeric electrolyte fuel cell and was built by Renault and five other partners. It was developed as part of a EU-funded effort to produce next-generation, low-emission vehicles, a program known as the Electric Vehicle of Extended Range (FEVER) Program.
