<< It is only the conservative religious people whose faith and activism is evil, er, I mean misguided, er I mean under scrutiny.>>

Why do you think that is?

Not all deeply religious people are conservatives. It is only the conservative religious people whose faith and activism is evil, er, I mean misguided, er I mean under scrutiny.

Come on j_b you've got to admit there is a religious right in this country that has backed some very frightening causes, before these issues with Clinton they were usually anti-abortion issues - the "lambs of christ" come to mind - and these groups are synonymous with zealotry. Ever looked into some of the politics of these groups? Let me give you an example: If you are a Dr. in S Dakota that performs abortions, your kids will be followed to school, harassed constantly by these people... animals around your house will be killed and hung near your front door... your car tires slashed etc until they finally run you out of town. Now, the left has some pretty radical groups too, such as Earth First, but the difference is, the Dems dont consider the Earth First crowd to be consequential and gets no money etc from them (the demographics are far different I suspect for the radical left v the radical right). The RR on the other hand are the puppetmasters for a number of powerful repub politicians and Im not comfortable with that.

So here we are, a smear campaign by the right intended to overturn an election, pure and simple. Its just too much like the RR tactics for me. That is why the RR faith/activism is questioned here. If the RR just played within the rules no one would despise them. BTW if the environmental groups gained power I would feel the same way about the radical left.
