Dazzle.......................................techweb.com October 05, 1998, Issue: 810 Section: Sourcing -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dazzle puts video on PC -- Add-On Includes Audio-Editing Features Stephanie Green Fremont, Calif. -- With Dazzle Multimedia's new Dazzle Digital Video Creator, a PC add-on, resellers can enable their customers to create and edit their own video content for the PC. "It's really a desktop- publishing system for individuals," said David Taylor, president and chief executive of Dazzle Multimedia, based here. The Video Creator translates video into digital format, compresses it at a high speed and transforms it into a desktop file in MPEG format, Taylor said. "The first thing we do is to allow people to bring audio and video content into the PC," Taylor said. "That's what this hardware is all about. The second thing we do, which is ultimately more important, is provide all the software to allow people to use that video." Users can insert video on E-mail, automatically create an HTML page, create a photo album and set up a slide show. They can expand playback to fill the entire screen. Features include functions to record video and audio, edit video and control volume. "They have everything to do all the things you can do with video," said Sujata Ramnarayan, multimedia analyst at Dataquest, San Jose, Calif. The parallel-port version of the Video Creator is $249. An external Universal Serial Bus version, due next month, also will be $249. An internal PCI version, along with a camera, will ship in January for $399.
