Eddie..The list you posted of top selling retail PC's include the Presario 5020 for $1099. I bought that very model last Sunday at Office Max for my daughter entering college this fall for $799 after the $100 rebate. It was a steal that no other PC came close to beating. These prices change so fast it is unreal. With a small monitor you end up with a total system with a lot of power for under $1000. I find it hard to justify spending any more than that for any average user and those even above average for most cases. Those who said the sub $1K PC would be nothing but a toy made a serious misjudgement.

Eddie, they are the best three out of five because they are not including direct sales from Dell and Gateway who are cleaning Compaq's clock!
