Yes, the market may rebound in the short term. Yes there is probably some excessive fear about hedge fund exposure, but the US market cannot remain at these levels if most economies slow down or go in a recession.

Where is the growth that was forecasted going to come from ? With trade deficits growing tremendously with Asia, how are profits going to be maintained in the US ?

People say you have to buy when there is blood in the Street. Do you really think that going from 9300 to 7800 qualifies as a blood bath after the years we've had ?

I think many market participants have very little understanding of the consequences of globalization, or too much vested interest in a bull market to dare facing or telling the truth.
