**OT (and keep your tobacco-pickin' sticky fingers off the keyboard) ** RE: Krispy something

krispykreme.com

OF COURSE THE DOUGHNUTS
WERE HOT, IT WAS JULY!

Welcome to Krispy Kreme's Virtual
Doughnut and Coffee Store! In 1937
when we made our very first hot,
glazed doughnuts in a tiny storefront
in Salem, NC (now Old Salem historical
village in Winston-Salem, NC),
certainly the last thing on the minds of
our founders as they started
production that hot July 13th day was
"Do you think one day we'll have our
own website?" They also probably
never realized that they were creating
the foundation of a company that 60
years later would have a customer
loyalty that some say is like a cult.
Well, we don't think about it quite like
that but we do know that a lot of the
same people have been coming back
to our stores for at least forty or fifty
years - along with a whole lot of new
ones every day.

FOND MEMORIES ON A
TECHNICAL HIGH

It is a provable fact that our original
hot, glazed doughnut and a great cup
of our specialty blend coffee is the
quickest way to stir up memories of a
time when simple things meant a lot to
families and friends in America. Well,
guess what, these things still mean a
lot to families and friends in America.
It's true we live in a society dominated
by high-tech complexity...this website,
for example, is wired tighter than a
commuter on the L.A. freeway at rush
hour and certainly doesn't arrive on
your screen by pony express. But not
every good thing has to come from
some stressful techno-system. Sort of
like our simple, delicious yeast-raised
doughnut for example, if you get the
drift.

WE'RE OBSESSED BUT NOT
POSSESSED

While everything around us seems to
be changing, some things don't need
to. We maintain and protect a
six-decade history of absolute quality
control insuring that our products still
have the same valued consistency and
great taste today they've always had -
because - we are positively,
unconditionally, undeniably (and
almost unmercifully) committed to
excellence in our products; in the way
we treat you, our customer; in the way
we treat our communities; and in the
way we treat our environment.
SECRETS, CHILL BUMPS, AND SURPRISES INSIDE

Inside the site we'll tell and show you our history and culture. We'll reveal the ingredients (but
not the secret ones) and processes for making our famous doughnuts, and how our coffee
blend got to be so good and stays that way. We'll give you geography lessons on where our
stores are and where they're not, and how to get a franchise if you're the entrepreneurial type.
We'll also let you see where great job opportunities are, let you in on who's talking about us in
the press, and show you pictures from our newest store openings. We'll proudly present our
growing line of branded Collectibles (that's T-shirts, hats, mugs and other hot stuff for those of
you who aren't collectors ) and make it easy for you to buy them. We'll relate fund-raising
stories so unique and touching they might even raise a chill bump or two. And, finally, in
addition to all this and more, there'll be surprise after surprise after surprise...probably even for
us.

IT'S A MIND THING, KIDS

Make a mental note that what you're finding here in mid-1997 is just the beginning. As you read
this we're working on Phase Two which is 100% for kids! It will be filled with fun, games,
contests, and some adventures so way fun that even adults might want to jump in every once
in a while. We'll let you know when it's going to debut so you can be one of the first visitors.

STOP THIS AND START RIGHT NOW!

It's time to stop reading and start looking! So just ease on back in your seat, punch up our
Home Page and start your Krispy Kreme journey. We'll be right here beside you for the whole
ride! WheeeeFun!
