What is a market/business standpoint? What does that mean? The deals with these companies don't break the fire wall between ORCL and ODIS, they reinforce it. The free ticket sounds like a good idea. In some cases ODIS should donate the product, especially where establishing a foothold is critical. The strategy is to take advantage of a change in the status quo BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY.

I'm inviting you guys to figure out a way to do this, not to attack me for going against canon. The attitude is to convert a disadvantage into an advantage. What characteristics exist in a decline in prices for RDBMS where a substantially different product in the same industry can benefit? I've mentioned defection. What action can ODIS take to take advantage of that? What happens if ORCL lowers prices, but revenues still fall? ODIS cuts prices less than in other scenarios. ORCL may have to give it away. Then ODIS holds the line to current levels in pricing. It is the case of ORCL's cutting prices and getting an increase in revenues that is trouble for ODIS. Then ODIS must exercise the any means necessary.

The thread has made a big deal about Bowman. It's easy to look good when the market is good. The circumstances are very tough now from a market/business standpoint. If ODIS continues their current Bowman strategy, they will be a perennial loser and will have to merge with say, CA. The value of that to you is the current stock price. Bowman will quit, go elsewhere, and get a raise for his superior efforts. Your investment becomes Wang Labs. I suggest you stop crying about the growing disaster and figure out a way to address these problems. I assure you there is a way. You have to find it and force your ideas on the company by any means necessary.
