I really do not know (however there really is absolutely no
connection between how INTC does and how LSI does - 2 totally different markets and product types. INTC is benefiting from the inventory depletion in processors + the new server chips of course and LSI has a very tiny connection to PCs + LSI does not do the millions of one-fit-all type parts like INTC does).

A long time ago I had mentioned to LSI that their reporting on the third Thursday (just before options expiration) was a big waste of time. Then I noticed that it was the fouth Thursday which was a bigger waste of time because it is too late.

However I would not pay too much attention to that note of mine as far as the day is concerned since last year LSI did the same thing - reported on the third Wednesday in Oct.. (but this is the first
time that I know they are reporting on the morning) Of course last Q4 was quite ugly - mmm....

Backtrack... Point is to measure what expectations are relative to
what the company reports. Last year there were big expectations
for Q4, earnings estimates were high, lots of analysts had buys and the company indicated poor earnings for the coming Q. - hence the stock got thrashed. This time it is different since expectations were squashed last Q and everyone has already lowered their estimates and ratings. However there still may be people expecting great things - I do not know how many expect things to improve this quarter - if LSI disappoints they will likely sell.

The thing with LSI is that they/we really have no clue what each quarter will bring because they can see orders coming in in seconds and then see orders vanish in seconds. The key will be Sept. and Oct.
order activity I believe since those order levels will set the stage for Q4 revenue and earnings.

DVD on notebooks:
"Gateway introduced a sleek Pentium II notebook with an integrated DVD-ROM drive for less than $3,000, becoming one of the first vendors to offer a DVD drive at this price point and in such a compact design."

Semi-equips: (I'm not the only fool who thinks that small caps
are ridiculously low in that sector - of course you may need to
wait much longer than he has indicated I think and there is always
a chance that some will fold but that's the way the cookie
crumbles sometimes. If only there were some cash under the mattress <ggg>.)
