Hi Who, me?; Did Bob Bennett call Tripp a liar before she started taping, or was it that she had been close enough to the White House, (i.e. she read the papers enough) to know that the WH would respond by smearing her?

None of this really matters. Regardless of her motives, (and who wouldn't want to record tales of such illegality in high places) the deed was done. We might as well speculate on the motivations of "deep throat."
