Or having worked in the WH and seen what happened to people who do not "play ball" with Bubba, she could have started from the get go to make sure she could back anything she learned about the WH. JLA

At the very least I am quite convinced that Tripp made the tapes, and manipulated Monica, so as to have a marketable and highly lucrative book deal, through Goldberg. I think they were both also motivated by a deep hatred of the President, and a desire to bring him down. Tripp for reasons more of personal resentment of a frustrated and discarded woman, generally. Goldberg for more ideological reasons. Completely correct again.

Hi dougjn; I think your analysis of the motives of Linda Tripp are accurate. (At least I hope that we'd all be thinking book deal.) Now that you have analyzed the motives of Tripp, and shown her to possess less than a perfectly sterling character, how's about analyzing the motives of the President? After all, he's the one that was elected to keep his finger on the button for us. (Rather than where it isn't supposed to go.) I particularly would like to understand his motivation for making the August speech admitting lying. Why did he wait until then? Anybody else have any guesses on the motivation of the President for the various things he's done in the last 8 months? -- Carl
