Jan, I am by no means an expert on the subject, but I have read some fascinating material which almost proves that the moon's phase and month is significant to the stock market. During periods of extreme emotion and market tops, the lunar calendar and its phases can seems to be a useful tool for identifying the start of market panics and the end of them. (I think the guideline for finding the bottom of the panic is to go back 54 hours +-12 hours from the new moon).

What has amazed me is that the Hong Kong Market crash last year in 1997 in October ALSO fulfilled the lunar calendar relationship. It boggles the mind.

Well I highly recommend visiting this site. Especially the section on 'Autumn Panics'. It reads like a detective story and is a fascinating account of how possibly markets and mankind are to some degree influenced by the Moon!
