Thanks Nihil,

In all these years, I've taken the actions of the Fed for granted. For instance, in '94, they used to regularly intervene in the Forex markets and I just assumed that it was a normal and necessary operation to stabilize markets. It's just that from '94, when I first started trading bonds and currencies, until now, I never questioned or thought to review the mandate of the NY Fed. Thanks very much for the link to the NYFED. Sometimes in our haste to get data, we forget to read the basics. <G>

BTW, it's not surprising about conspiracy rumors even though the Fed has managed very orderly markets for a good number of years now.
