>>And guess what Maxwell ... This will be in volume production late in
Q2 '99. I bet this will appear in one of your "nightmares" soon. <ggg>

How does this compare to AMD's (or should I say Motorolo's) .18um
process ??<<

Intel MOT 0.18 MOT 0.18+
Printed poly linewidth 0.14um 0.12um 0.10um
poly space 0.24um 0.21um 0.18um
Operating Voltage 1.3V 1.3V 1.2V
FET drive currents (Nch) 620uA/um 700uA/um 750uA/um
FET drive currents (Pch) 310uA/um 320uA/um 330uA/um
# Metal layers 6 6.5 6.5
Copper NO YES YES
SOI NO NO YES
Expected speed (Desktop)0.6GHz->0.9GHz 6.5GHz->1GHz 0.9GHz->1.3GHz
Expected speed (Mobile) 0.4GHz->0.6GHz 4.5GHz->6.5GHz 0.6GHz->0.75GHz

MOT 0.18+ is the "SUPER 0.18um Process" of MOT. It uses SOI and
copper. 6.5 metal layers includes local interconnect which I consider
is a half metal layer. Look like Intel 0.18um is inferior to MOT. I
haven't include the power dissipation. MOT process will be better.

MOT process on K7 will be Intel's nightmare.
