Yes slavery was a reality, that doesnt mean that god should condone it and set up rules and circumstances that make it okay. I dont think god would do that, but man writing gods story may do that. The scripture I gave you by Paul in the Ephesian letter said nothing about condoning slavery. It merely said that WHATEVER your circumstance give God the glory and make sure you live in such a way that others also gave God the glory. Now with that in mind, look at this: 5 Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ. 6 Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but like slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. 7 Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men, 8 because you know that the Lord will reward everyone for whatever good he does, whether he is slave or free. 9 And masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Do not threaten them, since you know that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him. Col.4:1 Masters, provide your slaves with what is right and fair, because you know that you also have a Master in heaven. question, if CHRISTIAN masters treated their slaves as they are taught by Jesus to do, what kind of "master" would they be?? It is my opinion that god would not condone the act of slavery under any circumstance what so ever..... OK Mark, here is a biggie, don't copout on me!! You believe in God . You have said so. Am I correct? OK so what would you have God do?? God HAS condoned murder, rape, theivery, even incest.....and yes slavery..... for a season Why?
