To Kerm and all

Anybody have an opinion on Compton CMT TSE. I am hearing rumblings that they may be a takeover target - they are very undervalued, and are mostly gas.

Bernard / Probe

As to the first part of your question, Probe is probably a good company to look in to. I saw the pres. speak on two occasions; each time he made what seemed to be outlandish projections; and each time they beat them by a mile. It would appear that no one knew just how many potentially productive zones there were at the Leduc property, so Probe has had some very positive surprises. One result has been low finding costs.

The estimates I've seen suggest production of 10,500 boe/d this year, jumping to 17,000 next, with cash flow of 40 cents this year and 90 next. If they can attain those numbers, then the stock is very cheap here indeed.

One important question with this company is that no one knows what kind of decline rates they're going to get at Leduc. This could be a negative surprise.

The other part of your question relates to timing. I am the last person in the world to try to answer that one. I waited for it to go under $5, and felt lucky when I picked it up at $4+. For about 2 days.

Bernard / Probe Exploration

Just saw David's comments and realized I didn't respond to your Probe inquiry. I agree with David, the company is worthy of evaluation for investment. Although original estimates have been scaled back somewhat, reason for the analyst downgrade that caused the shares to fall back recently, I still view the company as having the basics to provide a good return on investment. Purchasing shares at or below the 1997 asset value per share value ($3.50) would appear attractive for me.
