Not to mention the need to settle the bogus Jones suit as well.

If it's so bogus, then why was the President's men offering Jones $700,000 dollars a couple of days ago (or was it yesterday?) to settle?

If it was so bogus, why did the President feel the need to lie to the Jones court? It certainly wasn't to save his marriage. Hillary has indicated that she has a great capacity to forgive and move on.

We all know why the President lied: Because he was being accused of something that was the pet "ultimate transgression" of the Feminists, who had never wavered in their support of him. As it turns out, they too are willing to forgive and move on---as long as the President continues to veto the PBA ban in his defiance of the will of the US Senate and US House.

<<Clinton is already out millions on this scandal quest.>>

?????? In '92 when he was running against the "rich" Bush he made a point of telling everybody he and Hillary's net worth was 200 large.

Oops, I get it, other peoples millions.

<<And yet the President not have his defense costs funded through the public purse as well.>>

Amazing!!! No one on the WH staff have defended him? All those scads of WH lawyers that are paid for by our tax dollars??

<<But I'd settle for some sum similar to Newt's. Maybe twice as much.>>

Whoa! Newt paid the cost of his investigation, which was $300,000! Starr has spent 4.3 million dollars since Clinton's "I never had sex with that woman" speech! You want me to pay for him lying to me for 7 months? No way, Jose!!!

<<It is not at all clear to me why, if we have set up the independent counsel as almost a fifth branch of government (after the press), that that branch should have nearly unlimited funding. And yet the President not have his defense costs funded through the public purse as well.>>

First of all, the "fifth branch of government" was the Democrats doing, not the Republicans. Democrats wrote the law, signed it into law and authorized the investigation of Clinton!!!

The Republicans had over 60 Independent Counsel investigations used against them. THEY PAID THEIR OWN LEGAL BILLS!!! Now that it's Clinton, the rules should be changed? Where was the outrage when it was happening to the Republicans?
