Christine, I trust the ability of most Americans to run their own financial future much better than I trust the government to run it for them. I'll be willing to bet that article didn't compare the funds against the social security system.

If I were allowed to put another 17% of my income into a retirement account. I would definitely not need social security in 30 years. Shoot! they can even keep 7%, just let me put another 10% in. In Chile where privatizing social security has been tried on a national scale, something like 90% of the people have elected to participate in it vs, the government system. Why are you so against freedom of choice? Seems to me that your belief's always bend toward controlling other people. Their money, their schools, and their watercraft vehicles. Do you believe in freedom Christine?

Of course we wouldn't allow senior citizens to starve to death, but do you realize that demographically the over 50 age group is the wealthiest in America?

The reason we don't do it with the system we have, is because we are spending over 30 cents on each dollar to run it, and it's going to go broke in 15-20 years. I'm sure however, that you believe just raising taxes will fix the problem. My reality tells me that a society never taxed itself into prosperity.
