I really don't know for sure about the move itself (it could prove to be beneficial, a mistake, or not matter much one way or the other), but what I find more interesting in the article is that Iomega is still having inventory problems. This should be a very worrisome sign to Iomega Bulls.

It may be that Iomega is preparing for survival with lower unit shipping volumes. That is to say, they are preparing for unit sales declines.

Curious to why Iomega would be considering bringing back production from an already under-utilized facility in Malaysia. With component proximity, lower wages, and if I recall, a sweetheart deal from Malay government in regard to taxation, it would be a curious move indeed.

Linda, that just more great news...they are selling all they can make and espec. to dell and compaq. As I have been saying sales have not only picked up in the oem business but the retail side has picked up as well....there is no way this could be bad news....they are saying that they want a plant in each region of the world to meet demand...
