Gerald Ford is a former U.S. President. Of course, he was and is a Republican. I get the impression that you and other Clinton apologists are going to reject any proposal of a solution put forward by a Republican.

Earth to pez: The Democrats lost control of both Congressional houses in 1996. Any conclusion to this matter will not happen unless the Republican majority put their blessings on it. That is the political reality. Yes, it was under Clinton's term that the Dems have lost control of Congress, for the first time in 40 years. The Dems aren't always going to get their way now, proclaiming "victory" no matter what.

The President has placed himself in a compromising position, and compromise he will, you can be sure of it. Prepare for humiliation. Or not. And be humiliated anyway. The Dems never were graceful in defeat though, so I don't know why I'm looking for that now.
