The Taliban wing of the Republican Party that increasingly calls the shots within the GOP probably hates Ford and anything he has to say as much they hate Bill Weld, Pete Wilson, and Arlen Specter and anything they have to say. For that reason alone, the proposal will likely go nowhere. You may be incorrect about Congressional Democrats. I think many would go for that idea, especially if they too had a chance to put in a few choice words against Clinton.

I think it is an excellent idea. Congress should punish Clinton as they would an extremely errant teenager, not as they would a crook. His actions, I believe, don't at all rise to the level of an impeachment. But they were unprofessional, unethical, and, by lying about them, illegal. In a way, Ford's punishment would be even more humiliating to Clinton than a somber impeachment process. And in a way, Clinton is not really worth the cloud of divisiveness and rancor a full-scale impeachment would cast over the country.
