ALL,
I've been away from TA topics for over 6 months but came across a very interesting use for MACD..from a talk from Gerald Appel..
If you plot a 19-39-9 MACD against the advance decline line you will see what I mean..Appel's rule , that you can modify, that it is OK to be in the stock market as long as the MACD line remains above 450..The latest 'signal' I get is around 4/26/98. I wish I had been managing my intermediate accounts at that time..it appears to have value for intermediate and long term accounts..for active traders, I'm not sure if the information will help..At least you might take a more defensive posture and probably get out 100% if you start to get into negative territory..You make the rules..just FOLLOW them <G>.
Dick.
