I was told me an attorney working on one of the AZNT lawsuits that AZNT has no power to cancel shares. All they can do is freeze the DTC and get TROs to keep people from doing anything with them until such time as there is a trial and the court issues a ruling. So, as the parties holding those shares haven't been able to do anything with them for several months, and as they certainly don't plan on covering any shorts anytime soon, it's my opinion that AZNT stock getting halted by the SEC is more likely than a short squeeze.
