AMD is a positional short into strength. It is on my short list, will assess their earnings reports to gauge the timing and may wait until INTC reports.

The golds may be temporary overbought but there is a lot going on behind the scenes that could make gold run much further. You may want to read this.

While doing earnings plays for 10/14-10/16 surprised at how many drugs and biotechnology stocks are very strong (i.e. INCY from last week's earnings plays up 9.85% on Friday and on a strong upswing)both technically and fundamentally. Report will be ready be evening.

e-mail: RMBS, GE, DELL, LU
I "lost" my RMBS calls this morning and was stopped out but I am still mildly bullish on RMBS..

I escaped GE calls today when GE fell below support of 75 1/8. Since it is now below support, but I would get in at a bottom and hold it not for a daytrade.

DELL... back at 58 3/4 is support, could be a buy then.

LU.. doesn't see to find a bottom. CSCO,DELL, MSFT finding a bottom but LU is still tanking. Maybe under 55?? I am more interested in CSCO at this point.

Options and daytrading profits..Hard part today was posting in time for others to get into some good plays. AOL, YHOO, CSCO were timed fine, but BMCS,PFE, and IBM were a little late but still fair. "Defensive" stocks were good from 'get go' in the morning and 'earnings plays' like THC, RXSD worked in right in the middle. To top off the day, select retailers that are reporting this week finished at the top of their trading range near the close.

The internets DID NOT turn that early and it was a chore tracking them all day. All in all with options in expensive stocks like AMZN,YHOO and AOL you can figure each point gain on the option is 1k profit. I get 10 calls, no more no less. YHOO cost 11k today but ended the day worth 13.5k The others cost about 2-4k each.

Same goes for CCI, CSCO, PFE,MSFT and DELL. With stocks you have to have 250k invested to make that kind of money. In other companies like RXSD, THC,it is preferrable to buy the stock. There are no fast markets and it can take a while to sell an option. I generally trade only large cap stocks intraday with options and I'd rather be proficient in 1/2 dozen options than trade scores of them without any idea of spreads, speed of sale, %gain with each point gain of underlying stock, etc.

As far as stocks like CPB, HNZ, CCE, PEP, HRL, I've never had options in these stocks so I don't know how they perform.

In CLX 84 7/8. in FDO 15 1/2 from yesterday's list(earnings out 10/16) and looking at COST (PRQJI), from today's list, picked up CCI calls CIWJR 3 1/2. I did very well this morning in selling and I'm in no hurry to aggressively buy tech stocks. Still holding PEP, BUD. Out of TLAB with zip.

*CLX the stock. PE 29 last quarter EPS 31% growth more than twice as much as PG. 8% increase in sales also twice as much as PG.. yet return on equity 25.1 for CLX and 31 for PG.

Some analysts think clorox should perform well even if the U.s. economy should take a big turn for the worse. the consumer products field isnot as affected by economic downturns as much as some other industries, analysts say...

People are still going to have to do laundry.. People will still buy bleach. Clorox rolled out 41 new products in fiscal '98 ended June 30. its highest number ever.

New products include Lemon Fresh Pine-Sol spray cleaner, tilex FreshShower cleaner and two new Hidden Valley salad dressing flavors.

The company's flagship bleach product, Clorpx and its color-safe bleach, Clorox2 control about 705 of the $650 million U.s. bleach markdet.
