Stephen, I think you underestimate the "community first" sense of the Japanese, and their deep respect for the "communal good". That is exactly why I say that an appropriate advertising campaign is what could revive domestic demand. Japan is doomed if it think it can ask the rest of the world to be a "comsumer society" for all the consumer goods they produce. As for the psyche, look at what happened in Korea when people were asked to melt their gold. Within a quarter more than 250 tonnes of gold were delivered to the central bank. Zeev
