Paul, Development in ANWR would take place far north of the Brooks Range just in the five-seven mile coastal strip of ANWR which abuts the Prudhoe Bay Fields complex. Far away from the prettiness of the Brooks Range.

I've been in the coastal plains area before. In the summer it is a mosquito infested bog- in the winter frozen solid and a partying ground for Eskimos on Skidoos who routinely blast through there doing about 150 miles/day.

Maintaining warmth in piping is indeed a big concern in deepwater developments- you don't want the produced crude to congeal in the line when it cools...
