Ad-Hatters Teams Up with RE/MAX Real Estate
CENTENNIAL PARK, Ariz., Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Newly independent Ad-Hatters, Inc. (formerly a wholly-owned subsidiary of Coconino SMA, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: CSMA - news) has announced an impressive entry to new markets for its unique line of scented air fresheners.
Through a marketing relationship initiated by Collective Touch, Inc. in Salt Lake City, Utah and Tahoe, Ltd. in Phoenix, Arizona, Ad-Hatters has entered into an agreement to provide its Dream Catcher scented native American-theme design to RE/MAX, one of the world's largest real estate firms. One of the first outings for this marketing alliance will occur in Las Vegas during the NASCAR Winston West series in November. RE/MAX has two cars entered, each of which will have a Dream Catcher containing a RE/MAX emblem emblazoned across each car's hood and down the front fenders.
''This marketing alliance is huge for Ad-Hatters,'' commented Norman Hammon, Ad-Hatters National Sales Director. ''NASCAR enjoys an incredible 72% brand loyalty for their sponsors. This introduction, provided by our good friend, Jack Doherty, of Tahoe, Ltd. in Phoenix, means a great deal to our company. And the fact that RE/MAX president, Dave Liniger, is the driver of one of the cars means even more worldwide exposure through his network of real estate offices.''
Mr. Liniger will also soon be attempting an around-the-world balloon flight starting from Alice Springs, Australia in December. His balloon will display a huge RE/MAX logo inside a replica of the Dream Catcher. ''People all over the world are about to see our product,'' said a smiling Mr. Hammon. They may first see the RE/MAX and Ad-Hatters logo on another, smaller balloon that will be part of the upcoming Balloon Fest scheduled for later this month in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Over a million people are expected to attend this event.
Historically the company's products have been marketed exclusively through a nationwide network of automotive after-market outlets such as Western Auto (a Sears & Roebuck subsidiary) and through the automotive product departments of mass merchandisers such as Wal-Mart. While these outlets have provided increasing sales numbers and have resulted in Ad-Hatters first profitable fiscal year ('98), the company has long intended to create products for other markets.
Ad-Hatters also announced that it has entered into an initial agreement to provide its famous cowboy hat scented air fresheners with collegiate identification. Universities such as Florida State, Alabama, Auburn, Duke, Georgia, Kentucky, and Utah will all have their logos on the company's leading seller. Hammon indicates that this trend to collegiate marketing will expand greatly and may even move into the pro sports arena such as with the NFL. He also mentioned other marketing alliances that are in the works though not yet confirmed including the Fiesta Bowl this New Year's Day and the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City in the year 2000.
Ad-Hatters, Inc. was formerly a subsidiary of Coconino SMA, Inc. until it was spun off to shareholders as an independent entity on September 30, 1998. Management intends to take their company public at the earliest possible date. News of this sort will certainly bolster shareholder expectations and hopes for their new company.
