Hi Pat,

Re: An alternative idea.

graywhale.net;

I just sent them $250, with a note saying:

"Please don't kill the whales. They're being friendly -- they're checking us out. They are intelligent; let's share the world with them! And they're beautiful, and pictures can be shot many times but harpoons can only be shot once.

Please use this money to help develop a Makah whale-watching business. Please do not kill them."

I hope it helps!

Good health,
KenB

**OT** RE: Whales

With respect to the Japanese eating their research Minke catch, I guess it means that they don't preserve them in formaldehyde first. I read somewhere that DNA checks on meet samples in Japan should evidence of meat from protected species.

With respect to whale watching, a very practical idea. We have a good business in Maui in watching the Humpbacks in the Marine Sanctuary.
