Gersh: I think in some cases, companies do not meet their fiduciary responsibilities with regard to their employee 401K plans. I have seen 401K plans in which employees actually invest blind. Some executive in the company makes the investment decisions and employees have no idea how their money is invested. In cases like this, I recommend that employees not participate in the 401K plan!

In cases like the above or with 401K plans where one has no alternative to being long in stocks, I would recommend exploring the IRA and or Roth IRA option instead!
