Marc: Re: "To me an inflection point is an identifiable clear change in market direction or dramatic acceleration in the trend. I think clearly Bob thinks this will take off shortly if not having already started on Friday. I have never heard Bob so bullish and to me it is clear his indicators are lighting up like a Xmas tree and he is expecting a spectacular rally now on the order of his mentioned non presidential congressional election years."

I agree with your definition of "inflection point." Despite the seasonal uncertainties associated with the month of October, Brinker expects the rally to begin this month.

I am not so confident of a huge rally which comes off this month followed by smaller rallies if that is what Brinker is thinking. My thinking is predicated on the amount of political and economic (international)issue overhang coupled with the seasonal factors associated with the month of October and the mutual fund tax loss selling associated with the end of the fiscal year for most funds on October 31, 1998. But if Brinker's forecast comes true, I will take it <GG>.

I think there is the distinct possibility that we could have a slow building rally with a minor gains built on top of other gains over the course of some days before we get a big rally. I see this as a possibility because of the amount of time involved in coming to the realization that not all earnings are going into the crapper in the face of the roadblocks I outlined above.

Right now as I write we are still in the probing and testing phase. If this continues, it would be awesome to see declining volume on each successive day of probing and testing.
