>>My friends point was that Starr has crossed the line over which a "reasonable" prosecutor shouldn't go. He believes that under a normal situation a prosecutor would have ignored a case of perjury if it related to consentual sex, and moved on to other issues.

Wrong. Any prosecutor would go after the perjury if they came across it in the added context of witness tampering and obstruction of justice. Further, the case wasn't about consensual sex! It was about sexual harassment. Can we all now lie in such cases? If so, maybe we should do away with all sexual harassment cases? Or is the President a king? Maybe we should do away with all the felonies that Clinton committed too. Sheesh.

Remember Clinton further perjured himself in the context on a CRIMINAL investigation. Your friend is sorely wrong for the reasons I detailed here and in my precedent post to you. He doesn't appear very well informed. To say the least.

btw, there is no exception in the law for perjury if the case is related in any way to sex.
