Clark - interested in that last remark about the Japanese being finished - one has to wonder - they seem to have had that great capacity to re-invent themselves and one should not forget many of the great Japanese corporations many of which are multi national with assets everywhere - why shouldn't Toyota fare just as well as Ford, better than GM or Crysler, - many , many other examples. Too often we confuse government fiscal and monetary problems with business survival. Unemployment is bad in Japan - but better than in Canada - living here, things don't seem too bad (yet at any rate) - I'd be interested to read some journalistic reports about how things actually ARE in Japan on a day to day level. Too much of what we hear is on the sound bite level E

Thank you, Clark, for Mr. Crimi's link. I haven't read his work in some time, and past time that I catch-up on it. Special thanks also for relating the dialogue w/ a friend.

I didn't reckon the G-7 would make much headway. Too many wide and varied interests. Appears at times that their efforts are out of sequence.

I enjoyed Mr. Camdessus' optimistic outlook in yesterday's news. Was obliged to reminded someone that he also, on August 22, 1997, declared the worst was over for Thailand. Just a tad off the mark.
I have about as much confidence in Mr. Camdessus as I've long had in this nation's headmasters -- zero.

"...corporeally in Hong Kong..."

No, I'm State-side.

Ardmore, Oklahoma? <G> At times I wish.

I like Oklahoma in the Spring and Summertime. Montana may lay claim to the name but, crossing the Plains on a motorcycle years ago, I still recall wondering how much bigger a sky can be. Every bit as big, I guarantee, as the ones at night...a thousand miles at sea.
