This is a global retailer. 2 1/2 years is just starting out.

To All...

I am sure most of you have read the "glowing" review of Vinik's hedge-fund 1998 record in the most recent Barrons. I went to my contacts and confirmed that he, Vinik, snookered M. Santoli (the article's author) by "selectively" revealing only those trading records that deal outside of his very core positions. If one would look at those names printed in his shill piece you could accurately surmise that he would have to be perfect in timing and perfect in exit inorder to have those type of gains. He is clearly, as usual, full of S..T and is once again successful in manipulating the media (don't forget the past Micron saga) to his benefit. I am told he will be opening up the fund at year end to Q1 99 for new $$.....his egotistical goal is to become a mega-hedge fund, ala Quantum or Tiger.
For what it is worth, I have e-mailed my observations, analysis, and record of facts to several very respected financial journalists and their editors (ex. Barrons as they clearly do little to fact-check....I know as I was once the subject of an article years ago and was appalled by their ignorance and liberal misquotations.). Specifically the two tomes I gave this to will no doubt be a bit more
through in their queries....they are among the best in the business. Time will tell, but I'll bet one or two exposes result sometime in the future.
Good luck to all.

P.S. Thank you all for your gracious replies to my postings. Your thread shows (ex. McNabb Bros.) maturity and civility not often found
on most SI boards with wide followings. I will strive to continue to illuminate the "street games" as they pertain here.
