Not making any point. Lean pretty far towards legalizing it but am sensitive to the argument that something like a national binge might occur.

We seem to be in some agreement on the matter. I apologize for being confrontational, it sort of comes with the territory here.

Cheers, Dan.

Ditto here, David. That is why I personally lean towards decriminalizing, not legalizing, possession. That might involve, for example, 1)allowing people to use small quantities in their own homes; 2) making possession of larger amounts a civil, rather than criminal, offense, punishable by a fine; 3) retaining criminal penalties for large-scale dealing. (As it is, 85% of all marijuana arrests are for possession, not dealing. And of the dealers, it is not the kingpins who tend to get jailed, but the small-scale non-professional "dealers" who buy it for their friends.)

David, I had smoked dope[as we used to say]for many years[I haven't for a fair number of years and regret that I ever did BTW].Let me assure you that here in southern cal it is so easy to get and the penalties so minor that it is almost legal and yet there is no binge. What is needed in my opinion is honest education. As long as horror stories are passed off as education the educators will be laughed at and never taken seriously.
