Picked up a Raven banshee today (finally... things here in Canada seem to lag by a week). $223 (CDN) at EB . comes with a $30 (US) rebate coupon. Unbiased review later today...

While Banshee won't do SLI, it's not out of the question to write software that uses the Banshee for environment mapping (while the V2/V2 SLI) renders the scene. Having the extra processing power would be amazing for things like reflections, advanced texturing, and other special effects. I'm surprised no one at 3dfx thought of doing this, or making it a standard part of Glide.

Ok, I have one good news, and two not so good news.

The good news is that I am now done with my loooooooonng interviews and correspondences with 3Dfx and have answers to most of the 20 or so questions that I asked. These questions were very straight forward and were answered in the same manner (though some of the answers were, wait till the CC).

The bad news is that I am saving the report to be part of much larger article that explains 3Dfx's origins, current standing, law suits, and their potentials for the future. So you are not going to get the report now, but I can tell you that it is good (for example they have inked a few Banshee OEM deals and they are recognizable names).

The worse news is that this week I am so busy that I should (and probably will) get punished even for spending time to type this posting. As such it may be a week before I can publish anything.

The purposal is that if you are in the rush to read the article, you can help me out by writing parts of it. I need one or two people at most to write (briefly) about 3Dfx related issues. I reserve the right as to how much of the writings to include and whether to edit them. Either way it will be at least till Monday night for me to get back to you.

Cheers,
Sun Tzu

P.S. I just bought another 1000 shares (for my cash account of course :D)
