[ Back to the News | Back HOME ]

Nikkei English News via NewsEdge
Corporation : TOKYO (Nikkei)--Pioneer
Electronic Corp. has developed a DVD
recorder that conforms to the DVD-RW
format, which allows users to rewrite a single
disk up to 1,000 times.

The machine allows users to record regular
and digital broadcasts as well as edit material
recorded on a video camera. While the
DVD-RAM format for personal computers
allows the recording of data, the audiovisual
DVD equipment now available offers only
playback.

Pioneer plans to bring the new machine to
market after addressing copyright-protection
issues.

Disks recorded under the DVD-RW format
offer a recording capacity of up to 4.7
gigabytes, or 2 hours 15 minutes of video
playing time.
