This is nothing new. Look at the periodic charge statements they have issued. Cisco has consistently released charge information before.

JF:
This is a normal procedure of Cisco's: announce that they will take a charge related to an acquisition. In fact, if you go back to the press release and read it, it will probably say that they expect to take a one-time charge for the purchase.

Folks, this huge decrease in price is not mutually exclusive to CSCO alone. The other blue chip techs are hurting too. I suppose that the downgrade only added the straw that broke the camel's back. To be honest, I think that SG Cowen does have a point in the statement that Enterprises may cut back on their spending. I respect a statement like that over some statement that they are just jumping on the bandwagon because the stock is slumping (like most ANALysts do). Oh well, good thing I am long term!

BTW, R/T quote is at 47 with a volume of close to 39,000,000. And it is only 9:30 PST!

Have another beer tonight folks....

John F.

Cisco always does this when they acquire a company. They almost always charge off when they acquire a new company. I am not worried about that in the least.

What I think pulled the plug this morning was the announcement of the FTC investigation and Cowen & Co. announcing a cut from "Strong buy to Buy".

There have been no warnings yet, that's what is critical here.
