The Open Market thing is not an alliance. Open Market owns the patent on credit card transactions on the web. Simply stated if you want to verify a credit card on the web, you have to use Open Market's technology. Hence Stumpworld using Open Market to verify credit card transactions. Since the use of this technology is not an alliance, Open Market is free to do whatever they want to do.

This is just like the deal with AT&T's Worldnet. There is no alliance or any indication that there is an alliance in the works. Alpha just wants to make their products more attractive and so they toss in a freebie. No alliances, just a license to put a copy of Worldnet in every box.

I seriously doubt that the Rabins would have the marketing power/know-how to enter into an alliance with either of these big boys.
