Denali Software Introduces Direct RDRAM Verification Kit; Includes Simulation Models for Direct Rambus DRAM and Rambus ASIC Cell, Performance Modeler, Customized Debugger PALO ALTO, CALIF. (Oct. 5) BUSINESS WIRE -Oct. 5, 1998-- Denali Software, based here, today announced immediate availability of a Direct Rambus(TM) DRAM (Direct RDRAM(TM)) Verification Kit, including simulation models, performance modeling and debugger software to improve the verification process for Rambus DRAM-based memory controllers and systems. Denali Software is noted for its MemoryModeler(TM), Electronic Design Automation (EDA) modeling software for model creation and data-driven verification. MemoryModeler is now bundled with simulation models and a powerful, customized debugger to enable access to accurate RDRAM models that will work efficiently in system verification environments. "Verification is requiring more and more time in a design cycle," observes Sanjay K. Srivastava, Denali Software's president and CEO. "We believe that providing just the simulation models is not enough today to solve the problem of design and verification of Rambus DRAMs. A comprehensive approach that solves performance modeling and verification needs is critical." Adds Billy Garrett, strategic marketing manager at Rambus Inc.: "We are pleased with Denali's commitment to the Rambus technology. We believe tools like Denali's can perform a vital function to the designer community who take advantage of our technology." About Denali Software's Direct RDRAM Verification Kit RDRAMs are designed for high-performance, low-cost, high-volume manufacturing and use standard CMOS processing and conventional printed circuit board technology. A Direct RDRAM delivers up to 10 times the performance of conventional DRAMs. Using MemoryModeler and the Verification Kit, designers have the ability to quickly create Direct RDRAM models for controller and system design and verification. The Direct Rambus DRAM verification kit includes simulation models for Direct Rambus DRAM and Direct Rambus ASIC Cell (Direct RAC), performance modeling based on the recently announced AutoTest(TM) and a customized Direct RDRAM debugger. Direct RDRAM Simulation Models Direct RDRAM models are now incorporated as one of the supported classes of MemoryModeler. Classes include DRAM, SRAM, SDRAM, SGRAM, DDR, SSRAM, ESDRAM, FLASH, PROM, SEPROM, FIFO and memory cores. "Our customers tell us that the Denali Software simulation models are the highest performance models commercially available today," affirms Srivastava. MemoryModeler is integrated with all the popular commercial VHDL and Verilog hardware description language (HDL) simulators to support a variety of proven system verification flows. Direct RAC Models The Direct RAC is a library macrocell used in ASIC designs to interface the core logic of an ASIC to Direct Rambus Channel. Denali Software models for the Direct RAC are compatible with the specification available from Rambus. They are also configurable for various size and timing parameters, and can be simulated at the functional level or, optionally, at the full-timing level for gate-level simulation. Direct RDRAM AutoTest AutoTest, automatic verification software, enables instant validation of models created with MemoryModeler. It automatically generates test vectors for memory parts through an extension to Denali Software's class-based memory modeling architecture. In its most basic usage, the Direct RDRAM AutoTest can be used to exercise models and verify that a model functions correctly. Designers can also specify a sequence of operations that they expect will be used in their systems. The subsequent run of AutoTest can be used to reveal significant performance and usage details about the Direct RDRAM in the system. Direct RDRAM Debugger The Direct RDRAM debugger is an extension to Denali Software's data-driven verification tool suite. It enables Direct RDRAM-specific functionality, including the display/edit of control registers, enabling exploration of causal chain. Pricing and Availability Pricing for the Denali Software's Direct RDRAM Verification Kit starts at $15,000. It includes support for both VHDL and Verilog HDLs, and is available on Microsoft Windows 95 and NT, SunOS, Solaris and HP-UX operating systems.
