Analysis of today: Very hard day, but not bad! YHOO turned nicely today from a low of 117 1/16 to a high of 129 9/16 closing at 125 13/16. Put in a buy at market JBL,LCOS and TLAB a little after 4:00.. got TLAB 38 1/2. Was going to pick up THC but was unable after 4:00. AOL just grabbed a profit and fled. Looks like XCIT, LCOS finished strongly. NSOL crept up from 34 to 37 so I would not ignore that one either. By October 7, government is supposed to come up with a decision one way or another. Not all that impressed with CSCO but it looks to have bottomed and could pop tomorrow.

Tomorrow we will continue our watch list picks of 'defensive' stocks. HNZ popped from yesterday's watch list as well. I also noticed some beaten down stocks closed at the high end of their range today. They will be on the watch list as well. JBL reports earnings tomorrow and although they are down from last quarter, they could provide JBL with a nice pop.

S&P up 12.40..glad I held the MSFT, YHOO and CSCO calls..also JBL the stock. Could be a day for CCI, C calls. Will try to add perhaps BMCS,CPWR or one other 'badly beaten stock'. Those of you with watch lists, please look at the ones that finished near top of their trading range before the close. They are near the top of the watch list. Especially the ones that are reporting this week. (Check the newsletter October 5-13) Also CBXC on your Earnings Play newsletter from October 14-16 is in the New America Page today of Investor's Business Daily.. Give that a look as well. I wrote about it just 2 days before it now appears in IBD.

We've had lots of luck with our defensive stocks, you can continue to watch those and if you are holding, (OAT,CPB,SLE,HNZ,HML,CCE etc) hold them until they reverse. Gold might be in for a bounce as well. Gold helped us through a harrowing week last time the market was down.
