V2 IS the same generation as V1. My Obsidian 5440 which I bought well over a year ago had 4 MB frame buffer, and 2 4 MB TMU's for a total of 12 MB, and ran Quake 2 multi-texture in a single pass. This was a V1 based chip. Other than a 2x difference in clock speed, the V2 and V1 are virtually identical.

On an unrelated note, have you noticed that the 3dfx development staff are back on the news server, answering questions, etc. They were nowhere to be seen for months. Is this an indicator that whatever they were working on is ready?
