We have the firm belief that biotech is a great
investment over a fairly long time horizon and
that it will be one of the key growth industies of
the next millenium

Thanks for your excellent post, I certainly hope
you are correct. As you know, I am a newbie to
the biotech idea, and the dumb luck of having not
got into this til now is the only reason my losses
are minimal compared to the model portfolio.

The intent of my post was of course to goad you
into some sort of a defense, and I am glad you
did it, makes me feel better on days like this.
Watching gztc go down like that today was a bit
distressing, and the yahoo thread is really getting
negative--usually not a bad time to be buying.

My thoughts have mainly been influenced by Thurow,
and the logical conclusion of his ideas about the
commoditization of industry versus brain industries
is the primary reason I've sought out biotech. It
is also the reason I've not got into trouble with
sectors such as PC's, disk drives, memory etc etc.

Good luck to all, I'm afraid there are still going
to be some good shopping days til Christmas--it
may be a buyers market a bit longer. I still have a
few stocks which are only third or half positions,
and I still need to add affx or incy or maybe re-
purchase hysq and my portfolio will be complete.

Much appreciation to you all on this thread, it is a
very good place from which folks like me can start
getting ideas.
